Warm Pacific greetings! Welcome to Le Afio’aga o Aotearoa.

LE AFIO'AGA O AOTEAROA

Whānau-Centred. Iwi-Guided. Pacific-Led. Inclusive to All.

We are a collective of community leaders, mana whenua, providers, churches, businesses, government agencies, and families working together to create healthier, stronger, and more prosperous communities.

Grounded in the belief that the solutions to our greatest challenges already exist within our communities, we bring people together to design, deliver, and champion initiatives that improve wellbeing for current and future generations.

Together, we are building a future where families thrive, communities flourish, and no one is left behind.

"E fofo e le alamea le alamea."

The solutions to our shared challenges lie within our communities.

Our Impact

Strengthening Communities Through Collective Action

Le Afio’aga O Aotearoa exists to support communities to realise their own aspirations for health, wellbeing, and flourishing.

By working alongside community organisations, sports clubs, churches, health providers, and local leaders, we have built a model where support is delivered through trusted relationships and collective action—rather than in isolation.

Across all initiatives, our impact is not only seen in programme outcomes, but in the strengthening of relationships, leadership, and community-led systems that continue beyond individual projects.

Our Collective Impact

Connected Communities

We have strengthened trust and connection between communities and services, making support more accessible through familiar people, spaces, and relationships.

Earlier and More Responsive Support

By embedding wellbeing initiatives directly within communities, families are accessing support earlier—helping prevent challenges from escalating into crisis.

Stronger Community Leadership

Athletes, coaches, faith leaders, and local champions are being supported to lead health and wellbeing conversations within their own communities, creating sustainable, peer-led change.

Greater Cultural and Spiritual Alignment

Our approach centres Pacific identity, language, and values, ensuring wellbeing support is culturally safe and responsive. Through initiatives such as the Nofo-‘a-kainga Spiritual Initiative, this has expanded to include spiritual leadership as a key driver of wellbeing.

Within this initiative, spiritual partners design health and wellbeing plans addressing priorities such as youth mental health, elder care, financial wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, and access to culturally grounded services. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, each congregation shaped its own pathway based on readiness, faith context, and community priorities.

This approach has strengthened engagement across physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing, while reinforcing the role of faith communities as trusted anchors for long-term wellbeing.

Better Connected Services

Collaboration between providers, churches, and community groups has reduced fragmentation, improving how families navigate support systems.

Communities Building Communities

Rather than delivering services to communities, we work alongside them. This has strengthened local capability, supported community-led solutions, and built partnerships that continue beyond programme timelines.

Why it Matters

Every initiative contributes to a wider system of wellbeing led by communities themselves.

Whether through integrated community care, smokefree support, sport-based wellbeing, or faith-led initiatives, each programme strengthens the protective factors that enable Pacific families to thrive.

Together, these approaches are creating:

• Stronger relationships between families and trusted services

• More confident community, sport, and faith leaders

• Earlier access to health and wellbeing support

• Greater resilience grounded in culture, identity, and spirituality

• Sustainable partnerships that continue beyond programme delivery

This is the power of collective action—communities leading solutions for communities.

Our Mission

To connect people, organisations, and communities around shared aspirations and community-led solutions that improve wellbeing, reduce inequities, and create lasting positive change.

Our Purpose

Le Afio’aga o Aotearoa engages in collective efforts for the purpose of fostering shared prosperity. These intentional and thoughtful interactions are crucial for addressing historical disparities and overcoming challenges. The organization is dedicated to developing a strategy that focuses on purposeful engagement to adapt to the evolving environment, paving the way for collective well-being and prosperity.

Our Vision

Thriving families. Strong communities. A flourishing future.

We envision an Aotearoa where every family has the opportunity to live well, belong, prosper, and achieve their aspirations.

We believe healthy communities are built on strong relationships, shared responsibility, cultural identity, and collective leadership.
